9 Signs of PCOS
Signs of PCOS:
1 - High sex drive: Women aren’t supposed to have a high sex drive every week of the month. Your hormones are supposed to change(cycle)!
2 - Fatigue: Sleep problems, including sleep apnea, are common in women with PCOS. Hormone imbalance can set off a vicious cycle because lack of sleep can further mess with your hormones.
3 - Unexpected hair growth: Elevated androgen levels in PCOS can lead to unwanted hair growth in areas such as nipples, lip, chin, abdomen, and inner thighs.
4- Irregular periods: If your brain doesn’t know when to release the egg because of a hormonal imbalance, it won’t know when to shed the uterine lining either. If you haven’t had a period in a while, or it is MIA altogether, you need to get your hormones tested.
5 - Heavy periods: Infrequent periods combined with a buildup of uterine lining can result in heavy and painful periods.
6 - Weight gain: Imbalanced hormones can cause insulin resistance, leading to weight gain. Around 50-70% of women with PCOS experience insulin resistance.
7 - Increased acne: Higher androgen levels can contribute to acne, indicating an underlying hormonal issue like PCOS.
8 - Cysts and infertility: PCOS often involves the development of cysts and can lead to difficulties in conceiving. Individualized testing is crucial for proper understanding and management.
9 - Anxiety and depression: Mood changes are closely tied to hormonal imbalances, like PCOS, because our hormones dictate so much of who we are.
