Black Cohosh Root (Actaea racemose) is a perennial plant, a member of the buttercup family, native to North America. Native Americans and European settlers used Black Cohosh for generations as a support for women’s health. Today, Black Cohosh is recognized for its effects during times when estrogens are low in cyclic or menopausal women.

Active constituents in Black Cohosh include triterpene glycosides including actein, cimifugoside, alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins.
