Boswellia, also known as Indian Frankincense, is extracted from Boswellia serrata trees that are native to India and Pakistan. It is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and has been used in many different countries for centuries. Boswellia has a unique compound called boswellic acid that possesses potent anti-inflammatory properties. It assists in suppressing proliferation of tissues at the site of inflammation and inhibits the breakdown of connective tissues caused by TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor-alpha), a potent inflammatory agent.

Boswellia contains a wide variety of constituents with unique beneficial properties including monoterpenes, diterpenes, and a collection of triterpenic acids known as boswellic acids that may have the following beneficial effects:

• Potent anti-inflammatory properties
• Support and maintain healthy joints
• Aid in tissue repair and healing effects for skin damaged by the age or sunlight
• Antimicrobial properties to aid healing due to infection
• Modulate immune response to assist the body with defense of allergies and infection
• Analgesic properties for potential reduction of pain
• Beneficial effects on the respiratory system and bronchial inflammation
• Promote proper digestive system balance and response in those with inflammatory bowel issues by providing digestive support
• Inhibition of abnormal cell regeneration and apoptosis
• Ability of boswellic acids to cross the blood-brain barrier and influence cellular growth and healing
