$70.00

*Pricing updated as of March 2024

Organic Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica) is an herb that is widely regarded for its diuretic, anti-histamine and nutritive benefits. It has also been researched as an effective antirheumatic, depurative and counter irritant for topical allergies and pain.

Traditional uses as a diuretic are specific to urinary tract infections and for swelling and edema. It can also help individuals with high blood pressure, swollen ankles or other issues typically related to water retention. As an anti-histamine is helps the immune system build tolerance to allergies, including hayfever, upper respiratory and IgE responses. It is best used prior to the start of allergy season to help limit the histamine response. As a nutritive, it is high in trace minerals and can help mineral deficiency disorders.

Organic Nettle Leaf contains flavonol glycosides (especially rutin), sterols, scopoletin (isolated from the flowers), chlorophyll, carotenoids, vitamins (including C, B group, K1), minerals, plant phenolic acids (especially chlorogenic and 2-O-caffeoylmalic acids). The stinging hairs contain amines, including histamine, serotonin and acetylcholine. The vitamin K content may be responsible for the styptic action associated with nettle leaf. All of these constituents have been show to help with:

  • Reduces the effects of histamine, hayfever and seasonal allergies

  • Decreases fluid retention, edema and swelling

  • Improves trace mineral levels

  • Blood buffering effects due to lactic acid
