Slippery Elm Bark (Ulmus rubra) has been used by people native to North America for centuries. The interior bark of the tree becomes slippery when chewed which gave it its name. The slippery texture is what gives this herb the properties that contribute to the soothing and protective benefits it is known for.

Slippery Elm Bark contains the active constituents: mucilage, polysaccharides, cellulose, lignin, flavonoids, coumarin, tannins, and vitamins and minerals like beta-carotene, selenium, calcium, zinc, iron, potassium, magnesium, manganese, B vitamins, phosphorus, and vitamin C.
